Her memory was wiped. She doesn't know how stubborn she is. Her past was destroyed. She doesn't know that her mind can map the Maze. Her beliefs were stripped away. She doesn't know yet that she will do anything to protect herself from being controlled. Her world has caught on fire. She just doesn't realize that she's a pyromaniac who will smile at the flames. But in the end? It won't take her long to figure all of that out.
As We Watch the World Burn is a story of a girl with fire in her heart and revenge in her fingertips. Entered in the 2021 Watty Awards.
My first draft of this story is disgusting. I finished it, and that's the only positive I can see. The plot also completely changed between this and the published version of As We Watch the World Burn, so I consider them to be vastly different stories, even though the MC does have the same name. The reason I'm putting said first draft up is because I want to demonstrate what two rewrites and a bunch of editing can do to a piece of trash like this. :)) Have hope, writers, for you too can improve from this base and horrific level.
The Safari with Newt part doesn't belong to me, but I did edit these photos together, so... yeah. ;) Also the Bastille song that goes "Your albatross, let it go..." (Weight of Living, I believe it is) has been stuck in my head for days as "YOUR ALBYTROSS" playing over and over.
Flare Jokes with Rat-Man: Janson: Some of you, however, are not immune. Everyone: Who? Janson: Now, now. This is a spoiler-free zone.
Janson: Unfortunately some of you are already dying of the Flare. Everyone: *gasps and starts whispering* Janson: However, I don’t want to name any names. Once you’ve gone crazy, it can be up to you to decide when and how this information is shared with your peers.
